The move of Apple to USB-C remains a hot topic, and during the HK show, we also received some inquiries from customers about it.
Many people had heard the rumor that the standard iPhone 15 models will feature a USB-C port but retain the USB 2.0 transfer speeds of Lightning, while the Pro models will feature faster data capabilities, potentially including USB-C 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3. And it’s said that the MFi program will be in place for even USB-C accessories. Non-MFI USB-C cables may be limited in data and charging speed for the Pro models.
On the other hand, the EU amended a directive to standardize charging interfaces on 7th December 2022, specifying the following points:
*Devices capable of wired charging over 5V/3A or 15W must fully support the USB PD protocol.
*Products are required to indicate if a charging device is included and its capacity.
And as a member of the European Parliament (Alex Agius Saliba of Malta) said in a speech that, Apple’s plan (if it’s true) to offer different tiers of charging speeds would be a “direct violation of the law”.

Anyway, for now, all we can do is wait and see. Seems that Apple won’t say anything till they announce the new iPhone 15 in September.
