Qi2 includes Apple’s MagSafe technology, offers up to 15W of wireless charging, and is now open for business applications for testing.
According to the latest WPC data as of March 7, 2024, there are already 100 products certified with Qi2, covering products such as desktop chargers, modules and smartphones. The upcoming iPhone 16 series, expected to launch this year, is also set to support Qi2 wireless charging, which could significantly expand the market.
The newly added Magnetic Power Profile (MPP) module in Qi2 requires 628 tests for certification. Moreover, compared to its predecessor, Qi2’s Enhanced Power Profile (EPP) module requires an additional 42 test items, mainly for certification protocols, which leads to longer testing times.
It’s also important to highlight that the Qi2 standard has its dedicated logo, exclusive to products that meet the Qi2 MPP criteria. The original Qi logo represents products that comply with Qi versions 1.3.3 and 2.0 EPP. However, the previous Qi2 magnet logo will be discontinued.
