Semi Solid-State Batteries Coming to Power Banks

Power banks have come under stricter regulations after several fire accidents last year. In China, 3C certification is now enforced more strictly, and the new standards are expected to include puncture tests. Right now, only semi solid-state batteries can reliably meet these requirements.

Semi solid-state batteries can be seen as an upgraded version of traditional lithium batteries. By adding special solid materials inside, the battery structure becomes more stable.

In tests like puncture, pressure, or drop, the batteries are less likely to leak or catch fire. Even when the battery cell is pierced, it remains stable without swelling, smoke, or burning.

Semi solid-state power banks are still produced in small volumes, so they cost a little more. For example, a regular 10000mAh Qi 2.0 power bank costs around $16, while the same model with a semi solid-state battery costs about $17. Would you consider paying a little more for the extra safety and stability?
