This process has recently begun to appear on selected chargers to create an ultra-matte appearance, a smoother touch, and a surface that is more resistant to fingerprints and everyday wear.
1. What Is Excimer Spray Coating?
Excimer spray coating is a surface-finishing process, not a new type of plastic material. After the housing is finished in the required base color, such as white, pink, or blue, a coating layer is applied over the colored surface. The coated surface is then treated with specialized excimer UV light to create a very fine micro-texture, giving the housing its smooth, soft-touch finish.
2. What Does It Change on a Charger?
The process mainly changes the appearance, touch, and surface performance of the charger housing. It does not affect charging speed, power output, or the internal electrical design.
The finish gives the charger a fine, ultra-matte surface with a soft, skin-like feel and a more refined appearance. It also resists stains, fingerprints, and scratches, making everyday marks easy to wipe away. It offers better resistance to yellowing and aging, helping the charger look good for longer.
3. How Is It Different from Conventional Spray Coating?
Conventional spray coating relies mainly on the coating formula and standard curing process to create the required surface finish. Excimer spray coating adds a specialized UV treatment to create a finer, more uniform ultra-matte texture and a softer touch.
Because it requires additional UV treatment and process control, excimer finishing generally costs more than conventional spray coating.
