As the EU’s new battery removability requirements take effect in 2027, removable-battery designs are gaining more attention in consumer electronics development. For portable speakers, a replaceable power system can provide a more flexible approach to product maintenance while creating new possibilities for long-term use.
This design concept explores how a compact Bluetooth speaker can combine portability, ambient lighting, and a removable battery structure. The speaker uses a rechargeable battery that can be taken out when needed instead of being permanently fixed inside the product, with USB-C charging for everyday convenience.
For portability, a combination of plastic and fabric materials creates a balance between durability and a softer appearance. A built-in lanyard further improves carrying flexibility, allowing the speaker to fit different daily scenarios.
Beyond audio playback, RGB lighting around the bottom area adds an ambient visual experience. When placed on a desk, bedside table, or other indoor spaces, the lighting creates a more interactive atmosphere while music is playing.
