Latest Updates on Qi2.2 Wireless Charging

Qi2.2 has recently become a popular topic in the wireless charging space. Last week, The Verge, a well-known tech news site, reported that the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) certified the first eight Qi2.2 wireless chargers — the latest version of the Qi standard.

Compared to Qi2, Qi2.2 keeps the magnetic alignment feature but increases charging power from 15W to 25W. It also remains fully backward-compatible with Qi2.0 and Qi1, ensuring wide compatibility with existing devices. Qi2.2 is expected to be adopted by both Android and iOS devices.

The certification process is said to include 691 test cases and requires interoperability testing with Qi2.2-compatible devices. Only devices that pass all tests can carry the Qi2.2 25W logo and enter production.

Additionally, the iPhone 17 is rumored to support Qi2.2 25W wireless charging. This might encourage more companies to launch Qi2.2 accessories sooner.

The WPC has not yet publicly released the final Qi2.2 specification on its website. Let us know if you’d like updates, and we’ll share new information as it becomes available.
